Join CHIRS Bird Watching!

Team ADS has another new program we want to tell you about. If you would like to join us, we are meeting weekly on Mnday mornings at Evergreen Brickworks and are going to be contributing our findings to E-Bird; an app that help with tracking and research.

The program started off with a special event at a dfferent location. We were so grateful to have an opportunity donated by Birds Canada to learn about bird watching at the incredible Tommy Thompson Park. A shout out to Sarah (our fearless leader) and Raja for making this happen for us. Another big thank you to client Prateek M. for sharing the photo collage that he made.

We asked Prateek to share some of his thoughts regarding the program. This is what he had to say:

“I personally had a fantastic time at the Tommy Thompson park. I do deeply regret not being able to bring my 6 year old bird enthusiast daughter to this unique meeting with a bird specialist. As recommended, I intend to have my Merlin app ready and ON to catch all the bird songs and walk the entire length of the park, and especially visit the bird research station. I was deeply intrigued to learn about the cormorant birds, which are harmful to the trees because of their excrements, and as such there is a team of volunteers that is in charge of ensuring that these birds lay their eggs on the ground! Looking forward to more such amazing nuggets!”

Next, we asked Brett R. to share his eloquent thoughts:

“I found it very calming to be out in a beautiful place focusing my attention on the animals that live there, and I learned some things about the bird living in this region. I truly did not know there was more than one kind of swallow.”

We are looking forward to finding more birds and learning about them all summer.
