CHIRS Annual Family Picnic – A Journey Through the Decades!

On Saturday, June 6, CHIRS hosted its Annual Family Picnic – a day filled with fun, laughter, and great food! This year's theme was "Decades". Clients, staff, and family members were transported through time as they experienced music, dances, and entertainment from different eras.

The day was packed with exciting performances and activities. Dave had everyone laughing with his hilarious banana-filled skits dressed as Elvis, and Nick and James amazed the crowd with their incredible juggling skills, tossing everything from beanbags to fire and knives! Clients and staff took to the stage with energetic dances inspired by the 60s, 70s, and beyond, while the students wowed the crowd with a modern dance performance.

One of the most memorable moments of the day was when Dave transformed into a superhero, only to have a giant bucket of water dumped over his head! The excitement continued right to the very end with the ultimate Chicken Dance-Off in honour of Marnie, ADS Service Coordinator, as we celebrated her early retirement. After a spirited competition, Marnie emerged victorious, defeating Dave and leaving him with the challenge of eating a spoonful of some very strange food mixtures!

A huge thank you goes out to Rachelle for all of her hard work preparing the food, the Dance Group for their many fantastic performances, the Bucket Drumming Group for their energetic show, Ciara for taking the lead in creating the amazing time machine, and Dave and Emma for hosting a day of unforgettable memories! Additionally, we would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to all of the volunteers, family members, and staff who helped make the day such a success.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped create such a wonderful celebration. It was truly a day to remember!
