Client Lorraine M has been a long-time volunteer at The Mix and loves to share her experiences with us all. She heard about this fun program from David S, one of our CHIRS ADS staff, more than twelve years ago. On the last Friday of each month, in collaboration with Community Living which is an organization working with adults with disabilities, CHIRS throws a party. These parties include different bands, dancing, singing, and listening to live music. They also like to celebrate different holidays; in October, the Mix had a Halloween theme. Partygoers were encouraged to dress up in costumes, silly wigs, and scary masks. Prizes were given out and refreshments were served; these were prepared by our lovely volunteers.
Lorraine has been volunteering for many years; she enjoys being a volunteer as well as a party guest. This is what she had to say about the October Mix "I really enjoyed it, the costumes, the band, the games. I love to volunteer. I meet so many new people and it's a big party. The band, games, food was great. The costumes were the best part. Can't wait for the next one!"
Lorraine loves to take photos and enjoys sharing them with everyone. So please, enjoy these pictures taken by Lorraine and don’t miss out on our upcoming Mix Events happening in the coming months. We are so excited to see you!
