The Generation Gap

Last week, during our Saturday programming, we played a game where we see just how well young kids know what ‘us’ older people are thinking. The rules of this game were simple:

We polled the audience then asked our guests what they thought the most popular response was. The guests were Dez (Dave S's son) and Kiya (Sam A's granddaughter). Well, judging by the picture below…..the kids came out on top and Dave S. got pied in the face.

Following this excitement, Kiya presented for Black History Month, reading the book ‘Sulwe’ to the group. The book was about two black sisters, one darker than the other. Following the reading, Kiya questioned the staff and clients. Kiya and the group had an amazing discussion. Kiya’s last words to the group were, “Everyone has something beautiful about them; and everyone has something beautiful to offer.”

This event concluded our Black History Month. What a great success!

We would like to thank Kiya and Dez for their amazing contributions, time and enthusiasm, which was well received by all.
