Bocce Resumes

Bocce (along with other in-person programs) have returned to CHIRS. It has been almost three years since the pandemic descended upon us, so we are very excited to welcome everyone back. Bocce is a is a ball sport belonging to the boules family. The game originated from Italy, and it is closely related to British bowls and French pétanque, with a common ancestry from ancient games played in the Roman Empire. Bocce is played all over Europe, as well as in overseas areas with historical Italian immigrant population, including Australia, North America, and South America, principally Argentina and the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Initially played just by the Italian immigrants, the game has slowly become more popular with their descendants and more broadly. It certainly is popular in the CHIRS universe; we offer two bocce programs per week. If you any of you would like to register for programs, please reach out to a CHIRS staff member.
